Answers to the Big Questions

Quick, honest answers to what Delaware families ask us most. Can't find what you need? Call (302) 416-6205.

What services does Vital Care Associates provide?

We provide personal care (ADLs), companion care, homemaking, respite care, safety supervision, overnight / live-in care, and post-hospital transitional care. Every plan is customized to fit the individual's needs.

Are your caregivers licensed and background-checked?

Absolutely. Every caregiver goes through a thorough background check (FBI + state + DMV), reference verification, and is trained and certified to Delaware state standards. We are fully licensed, bonded, and insured.

Can I meet the caregiver before care starts?

Yes — we personally introduce the caregiver during the home assessment and make sure both the client and family feel comfortable before care begins. It's a must for us.

What if the caregiver isn't the right fit?

Your satisfaction is our priority. If a caregiver isn't right for any reason, we'll promptly re-match at no extra cost. We'd rather adjust than have anyone uncomfortable — the right match matters.

What areas of Delaware do you serve?

We serve all three Delaware counties: Kent County, New Castle County, and Sussex County. We're based in Smyrna, centrally located to serve the entire state efficiently.

How quickly can care begin?

In most cases, we can begin care within 24–48 hours after the initial assessment. For urgent situations like hospital discharge, we do our best to accommodate same-day or next-day starts.

How much does in-home care cost?

Costs vary based on the level of care, hours needed, and specific services required. Starting rates: Companion Care from $24/hr, Personal Care from $28/hr, Live-In from $280/day. We provide a clear, detailed quote during your free consultation — no surprises.

Do you accept insurance, LTC, or Medicaid?

Yes — we accept most long-term care insurance policies, work with Delaware Medicaid waiver programs (DSAAPD), VA benefits, and private pay. We also help families navigate the paperwork. See all payment options →

Can I change my care plan after it starts?

Of course. Care needs evolve, and we adjust accordingly. You can increase, decrease, or change services at any time with no penalties. We regularly reassess to make sure the plan still fits.

Do you handle memory care / dementia?

Yes. Our Safety Supervision service is built around dementia, Alzheimer's, and cognitive care — fall prevention, wandering management, validation therapy, and structured routines. Our nursing director specializes in memory care training.

Do you offer live-in or 24-hour care?

Yes — we provide true live-in care (one caregiver resides with the client) and 24/7 shift coverage (multiple caregivers rotating shifts). We'll walk you through the difference and help you choose.

What's the minimum visit length?

Our standard minimum is 4 hours per visit, which keeps care meaningful and gives caregivers time to do the job well. For some situations (medication reminders, quick check-ins), we can discuss shorter visits.
